The Central Academy of Arts and Technology (Caat) is a tuition-free, arts and technology-focused school with in-person classes in a safe, secure downtown Bakersfield campus. We can’t wait to kick-off the new school year on August 4th. Our second year!

Year 2 Will be Amazing!

It’s our second year as the school of choice for the Four Corners.  Our unique approach to learning empowers even more TK-9th grade students this year to develop future-ready skills. These skills not only foster creativity and critical thinking, they prepare each of our students to attend a 4-year college and pursue an in-demand profession in the years ahead.

Here’s how we’re getting ready for your arrival:

  • Hiring additional school leaders and teachers.

  • Sprucing up our 6000 square feet of learning space that includes 18 classrooms on 3 levels. (It’s all accessible by a slide that’ll get you from the 2nd floor to the lower level MAT Lounge where music, art, theatre, and dance are taught.)

  • Constructing new spaces for learning to accommodate our new high school.

  • Welcome Class of 2029, our first 9th grade!

  • Creating outdoor recreation space to use during recess.

School starts soon. While we’re getting ready, here are 5 tips to help you prepare, too.

1 – Celebrate and anticipate.

Celebrate all the fun times your family has enjoyed this summer as you anticipate the exciting learning experiences to come.

2 – Establish a reasonable bedtime.

Students need a minimum of 8 hours of restful sleep to be alert and engaged during school. For the next few nights move bedtime up by 10 minutes until you’ve reached the reasonable bedtime that will work during the school year.

3 – Wake up earlier each day.

Similarly, move up the call to wake-up each day to make school day morning rise & shine less painful.

4 – Reconnect with school friends

Organize a picnic or barbecue to join together before the first day of school.

5 – Do a back-to-school inventory

Check off the list of to-do’s now to avoid a last minute scramble.

Believe it or not, we’ve still got a few seats open in TK-9th grade classes. It’s not too late to enroll. It’s simple. Complete this form now and take a seat here on August 4th.
