Tuesday is Tour Day @ CAAT

Every Tuesday morning at 10:00am we welcome families to tour Central Academy of Arts and Technology (Caat), the only tuition-free, TK-9th grade public school of choice in Bakersfield. Our unique school focuses on art and technology as we prepare scholars to enroll in college. Come explore our facilities and meet our team!

You can’t miss our building! Once the home of Bitwise Bakersfield, Caat transformed the corporate headquarters into an extraordinary school space, easily accessible from the 5 and 99. We kept the inspirational exterior art as a visual reminder of the innovative education we offer.

“This building suits an arts and technical academy! It's really unfortunate that Bitwise didn't get to live out its mission, but we’re so happy CAAT has an awesome home. It’s wired for sound; it's a great creative space.”

Joanna Kendrick, Executive Director

The Art Bar at the Central Academy of Arts and Technology, decorated with symbols of the video game Pac Man.

We designed Caat to provide the education families in the Four Corners are asking for with:

🎨 visual, performing and media arts in TK-high school💻 technology-based courses for all grades🔢 personalized learning👏 college & career counselingIt's all here in 6000 square feet of amazing spaces like

  • MAT Lounge where we teach music, art, theatre and dance.

  • Art Bar

  • 18 Classrooms on 3 levels, all accessible by a slide!

“The Art Bar has an ‘80’s feel to it -- an old school Pac Man space. When kids first see it they don’t know where they are!”

         Brandon Smith, Dean of Students

The arcade is not just for playtime, although students can use token to access the games. It’s the place scholars refine their coding skills with real time activities.

Don’t forget that slide! What other school has a slide that starts on the 2nd floor and ends in the MAT Lounge on our lowest level?

And that’s not all. We’ve got big plans for our space as we grow. We’re adding classes at each grade level and expanding our Upper School to include 9th grade for the 2025-2026 school year. Classes are filling quickly. School tours are held every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. or you can call to schedule a tour at a time that works for you. You can complete your child’s enrollment while you’re here!
